Affordable Health Insurance for the Short-Term After Divorce
My friend, who is a fellow stay-at-home-mom, went through a divorce last year. She was telling me that her husband continued to cover their children on his health insurance plan. However, since they were no longer married, she could no longer remain on his policy and was offered COBRA instead. The premiums under COBRA were much too expensive for her. She was only working a few hours per week at the local YMCA. Still, she was able to find affordable health insurance for the short-term. She would remain on that coverage until she was able to find a full-time job that offered benefits.
